Dependents Education Assistance Program

Dependents Education Assistance Program

The Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance Program (DEA) (also known as the Chapter 35 benefit program) provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of certain veterans. Under the program, the dependent can receive up to 45 months of educational benefits, which may be used for degree or certificate programs, apprenticeship, or on-the-job training. Also included under the program are correspondence courses for the spouse of the veteran. For more information, visit VA’s Survivor and Dependents Assistance (DEA) webpage.
